In two words: Carolyn Usher.

Under the umbrella of my communications company, Crackling Communications, I work in Canada as a writer, editor, designer and publisher – print and online.

Apart from the professional, my husband Steve and I are passionate travellers and photographers. We’ve had a fair bit of success with seeing our photos and articles published in major dailies, but longed to see the photos, the information and the knowledge we’d collected shared with others in a format that lasted longer than 24 hours.

I’ve also corresponded with many travellers, enjoyed their trip reports and learned from their first-hand experiences. “There needs to be a venue for sharing this information more widely.”

Thus ...this website.

The original concept of a website for mature travellers has grown in its scope. While primarily a travel site, it now encompasses more than trip reports. It is about the journey we are all making.

If there is a target for this site, it is people within our own cohort ...boomers, for lack of a fresher word. But I’d like to think the site will appeal less to a specific demographic than to people with a certain attitude towards their own journey: engaged, evolving, curious, and caring.
